NIMIS Prototypes
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux
!!IMPORTANT!!!
These are old builds of my game, NIMIS, which I uploaded here as to not confuse people trying to install the base game. The base game in its most recently updated form can be found here.
These builds also contain numerous bugs which will not be fixed, as this is simply an archive of old versions.
The year is 20XX.
Humanity is dead and powerhungry autonomons roam the earth, warring amongst themselves in a neverending conflict with no resolution.
You play as unit LOCKJAW, a robot formally designed as a disposal robot to scoop all casualities both dead and alive off the battlefield, and to extract useful materials out of said bodies.
NIMIS is an arcade top-down shooter where you have to survive an infinite, yet growing onslaught of enemies for as long as you can, aiming to get as many confirmed kills as possible. This game was originally made in 4 weeks as part of my "Building Playful Worlds" subject for my game design study and was inspired by Nuclear Throne, Hotline Miami, Gungeon, Ultrakill and Cruelty Squad.
All art assets were made by me, the music is from the lovely folks at https://opengameart.org/ and the sound was sourced from https://freesound.org/

Install instructions
The game will appear as a .zip file in your downloads folder.
FOR WINDOWS USERS:
• Right click on the .zip file and select the "Extract all" option.
• When your .zip file has finished extracting, you can open the game's folder.
• Select the application in the game's folder. (should end with a .exe extension)
• If you get a warning that Microsoft protected your PC, you can safely ignore it by pressing on "advanced" and clicking on "run anyway". Microsoft does this because for a program to be properly recognized, you need to buy a certification license which is extremely expensive, otherwise the program gets false flagged as a potential security risk.
•Wait for the game to open and enjoy!
FOR MAC USERS:
